That’s my report card for the semester – a 3.0 GPA. That’s not good enough to put me in a position of getting my GPA up to or over 2.0 by the end of the summer. I’m somewhat disappointed, but at the same time holding a 3.0 GPA for two semesters in a row is something I’ve not done in my 6 years (yes, I said 6) of attending an institute of higher learning. I’ve contacted the head of the IST department and am going to see what my options are for attempting to graduate in the fall. I may have to go into next spring; I’d rather not, but you have to do what you have to do. I have no other options but to keep on chugging and hope that somehow, in the next year, I’ll be able to get myself a degree in hand and end this chapter of my life that has gone on just a tad too long. The crazy thing is, I’m considering going for a Masters…but I don’t see that happening.

On another note, I started work at DISA-FSO again today. I’ll be working part time over the summer, while taking courses up in Harrisburg. I always get sort of anxious before going back to work for the summer, I’m not really sure why. I guess I just don’t particularly like getting up so early in the morning and having to deal with the people there. The first few weeks are always a pain, they don’t know what work they want me to do, so they just sort of toss some stuff to me to keep me busy until they find something. I hate this because it requires me to constantly check-in or bug them for a new assignment when I’ve finished one. I prefer being given a project and just concentrating on that one thing for weeks at a time, and only having to update on it once a week or so. I guess I’m just not particularly social – atleast not at work, where most everyone I interact with is a good 10-20+ years older than me.

Lastly, sometime within the next week I plan to read up on some of Microsofts recent PR and other such moves regarding open source/linux and write up my perspective on it all. I’ll be posting it at http://www.geektyme.org and possibly here too, but I have to sit down, do some reading, and get the energy to actually think about it. After I get back from work my mind is pretty well beat into stupidity by the lack of thinking I do while at work. I need to find a more challenging job when I graduate – preferrably having to do with Linux or Open Source.
