Some people may have noticed when visiting geektyme.org that instead of the usual set of stale articles written in a vain attempt to start a sort of…news/reviews site, there is a post-it. This post-it states quite simply, “geektyme.v3 coming soon…”.
Some people may be confused. Most people probably didn’t notice. Some of you, likely, don’t really care :P – too bad! I’m going to tell you what’s going on anyways.
This is, basically, the third reincarnation of geektyme.org – first was when it was just my own little website and it looked simple and kinda cheesy. So I decided to do the news/reviews based version, which had town subversions – the first being with geeklog and the second with drupal. I’m moving away from these previous models because, well, they weren’t working (I also decided to kill ilc – but that’s a whole other issue).
So, this new model is quite simply: geektyme.org will host svn repositories for coders, and blogs for geeks of any sort. The main page will be a “chart” of sorts, showing the top of the site and then you can drill down into “blogs” and “svn repos” and things of that nature. You’ll also be given a way to request svn space or a blog. Other sites that I host will also be linked to (up and coming projects like css-haven.net). I mean, I have 200GB of HD space and 2TB of transfer per month…might as well make the best of it!
Oh, and here’s (you will need GIMP to open these) a little preview of some of the images I’ll be using on the main site once it’s done. At least, at this point in the design phase. Nothing is really solid yet.
Oh, and last but not least, Tyme Illusions will hopefully pick up steam in the next few months. Tyme Illusions is going to be my one-man (for now anyways) web design…erm…company? Something like that.
